Orlando Shooting Aftermath: Popular WeHo Bar Considers Having Armed Guards
The iconic Abbey is looking into increasing security during peak times and high-profile events.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA -- "Is this the new normal?" one man at a vigil in San Diego for the victims of the Orlando shooting asked. And for one West Hollywood gay bar, it may well be.
The iconic bar, the Abbey Food & Bar, increased its security Sunday during the 46th annual Los Angeles Gay Pride Festival following the shooting rampage that took the lives of at least 49 people and injured 53 others in Orlando.
During the event, the establishment had 36 guards on duty, some visably armed, the Los Angeles Times reported. The venue is considering making a permanent fixture at peak time and high-profile events, such as Pride.

"It’s something we’re looking at moving forward,” Abbey's spokesman Brian Rosman told the Times. “We’re going to talk more with the sheriff and City Hall to figure out the appropriate safety precautions.”
