WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA -- Hours after Mayor Lindsey Horvath published a letter denouncing Donald Trump and telling him he wasn't welcome in her town, emails with computer links to graphic abortions were sent to the entire West Hollywood City Council along with a message that suggested she once had a secret abortion.

The email was sent Monday and came with the subject line: "Are These Undercover Videos of Linsey P. Horvath's Secret Abortion? Watch dismemberment & decapitation of unborn baby."

Horvath said the sender was clearly opposed to abortion and the city's commitment to a woman's right to choose. She suspects the sender was a Trump supporter because the Advocate, a gay newsmagazine, published her letter to Trump just hours before the email arrived.

"Whether it is in response to my outspoken defense of Planned Parenthood and our Pro-Choice City or to my loud and clear message that Donald Trump's violent campaign and hate speech are not welcome in West Hollywood, this email is nothing more than evidence that publicly calling out detestable behavior is the right thing to do," she said in an email to reporters.

Trump has been on the defensive since Wednesday, when Chris Matthews asked him a question about abortion during a town hall televised on MSNBC.

MATTHEWS: You're running for president of the United States, will be chief executive of the United States. Do you believe in punishment for abortion, yes or no, as a principle?

TRUMP: The answer is there has to be some form of punishment.

MATTHEWS: For the woman?

TRUMP: Yeah. There has to be some form.

The reaction was predictable: quick, angry and loud.

A few hours later Trump issued a statement saying that his answer was wrong and only doctors should be punished.

"Like Ronald Reagan, I am pro-life with exceptions, which I have outlined numerous times,” he said in the statement.

The email was from ProLifeDisciple@gmail.com and listed no affiliation to any groups.

Regardless of who sent it, Horvath said she won't be silenced.

"It doesn't matter," she said. "I will continue to support a woman's right to choose and Donald Trump is not welcome in our community."

Horvath, for the record, said she has never had an abortion.

The West Hollywood Sheriff Station is not investigating the email because no laws have been broken.
