West Hollywood Mayor Stands With Other Mayors Nationwide In Support of Obamacare

The stance was of Mayors' National Day of Action, which aimed to raise community awareness and advocate for support for health care.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA -- West Hollywood Mayor Lauren Meister on Wednesday joined with 250 other mayors nationwide to support the Affordable Care Act.

Meister took action as part of the Mayors' National Day of Action, which aimed to raise community awareness and advocate for support from legislators in Washington, D.C. to protect healthcare coverage. As part of the effort, mayors and city leaders from across the country are posting to social media with the hashtag #MayorsStand4All.

"We've recently seen Congress take steps to roll back healthcare through its budget reconciliation process and one of the first executive actions taken by the new President during his first days in office served to codify his intent to dismantle the Affordable Care Act," Meister said. "We can't and we won't stand idly by as efforts are made to take coverage away from our neighbors and communities. We should all stand up, raise our voices, and demand that our leaders treat access to health care as a right, not a privilege."
