Canoga Park High School Released From Lock Down

Canoga Park and Owensmouth high schools had been put on lock down when a man with a gun ran on to campus.

Canoga Park and Owensmouth high schools were put on lock down Thursday morning when an armed man police had been pursuing ran onto the Canoga Park campus.

According to the Los Angeles School Police Department, at about 9:30 a.m., a campus police officer attempted to stop a man outside of campus. The man fled onto the campus, dropping a gun as he ran.

The school and the adjacent Owensmouth High, a continuation school, were put on lock down while officials searched for the man.

The 19-year-old suspect's name has not been released, but the police department said he was not a student at the school.

The suspect was apprehended outside of the school's agriculture area and arrested under the suspicion of having a gun on a school campus.

The schools were released from the lock down at about 12:40 p.m.
