Fire Weather Watch Goes into Effect Tuesday

A high pressure over the Great Basin will bring gusty winds and elevated fire danger this week to Southern California hillsides.

A fire weather watch will go into effect Tuesday in the mountains around Woodland Hills due to forecasted gusty winds, hot temperatures around 100 degrees and low humidity.

The fire weather watch, which means there is a risk of elevated fire danger, is expected to go into effect late Tuesday morning through Tuesday afternoon in the Santa Monica National Recreation Area, according to the National Weather Service.

Nearby, a red flag warning will be in effect until 6 p.m Tuesday for the mountains in Los Angeles and Ventura counties and the Santa Clarita Valley, where winds could gust up to 30 mph.
