Kaiser Medical Center to Accept Expired, Leftover Prescription Drugs

The hospital will collect the medicines as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

If you have expired or unused prescription medication in your cabinet, Kaiser Medical Center is willing to help take them off your hands.

Kaiser is joining with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and local law enforcement agencies in observance of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, wherein people can safely get rid of drugs they no longer need.

According to the 2011 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than six million Americans abuse prescription drugs. That same study revealed more than 70 percent of people abusing prescription pain relievers got them through friends or relatives, a statistic that includes raiding the family medicine cabinet.
