Police Officers Shoot Canoga Park Prowler

The shooting took place on Woodlake Avenue just north of Sherman Way.

Officers shot a prowler who reportedly pointed a gun at them Sunday in Canoga Park.

Paramedics rushed at least one person from the scene of the officer-involved shooting to an area hospital, said Shawn Lenske of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

The condition of that person was not immediately known, Lenske said.

The officer-involved shooting at 7105 Woodlake Ave., north of Sherman Way, was reported to police at 5:40 a.m., said a watch commander at the Los Angeles Police Department's Topanga Station.

Police were dispatched to the scene on a "hot prowler" call where the suspect reportedly pointed a handgun at officers and was shot, said Los Angeles
police officer Cleon Joseph of the Media Relations Section.

No officers were injured. Paramedics were dispatched there at 5:50 a.m.
