Sucidal Suspect In Custody After Holing Up Inside Woodland Hills Home

Police are advising residents to avoid the area of Winnetka Avenue and Winnetka Circle for the next several hours.

WOODLAND HILLS, CA - A reportedly suicidal suspect wanted for an assault with a deadly weapon was taken into custody by SWAT after holing up inside a Woodland Hills home for several hours, a Los Angeles Police Department officer said.

The police received the call at around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday of a suspect holing up inside the home on the 4400 block of Winnetka Circle, Officer Liliana Preciado said. SWAT officers responded and the male suspect was taken into custody before 9 p.m. she said. The home was unoccupied and no one was hurt.

An investigation was still underway and police are advising residents to avoid the area of Winnetka Circle and Winnetka Avenue for the next several hours.

Preciado does not know if he was armed or what lead up to the reported assault.
