"Sounds of Snow" Event Brings Musical Joy to Residents Through Music Therapy Partnership
Snowflake decorations covered the windows of Juniper Village at Aurora’s community room, setting a festive winter scene for the community’s “Sounds of Snow” event. Buzzing with anticipation, residents gathered together in excitement, ready to sing and dance to familiar Broadway hits!
Kicking off the new year with winter cheer, Juniper partnered with Elevate Music Therapy, inviting talented musicians to entertain residents with beloved Broadway classics all afternoon. The room transformed into an intimate concert venue, and lively melodies warmed residents’ hearts.
“Music has an incredible power to bring people together and create meaningful connections,” remarked Bonnie Carbajal, Executive Director at Juniper Village at Aurora. “This event perfectly embodied our January focus on embracing music as a way to ‘Welcoming New Beginnings’ within our Alive in All Seasons program, allowing us to nurture both new and existing relationships through the universal language of song.”

As Elevate Music Therapy’s talented musicians began their performance, the atmosphere shifted from quiet anticipation to joyful celebration. The familiar tunes of Broadway favorites filled the air, while the aroma of freshly brewed hot cocoa wafted through the room. Residents happily swayed to the rhythm, their voices joining in harmony, sparking old memories and creating new ones.
Throughout the afternoon, laughter and music intertwined as the residents and musicians shared stories between songs. Winter-themed appetizers circulated on elegant platters, providing the perfect complement to the warm beverages and even warmer spirits.
