Sustainable Expo Comes To Broomfield In April

From backyard chickens to composting to xeriscape gardens, the CSU extension offers tips for the Front Range lifestyle of your dreams.

BROOMFIELD, CO – "Better Front Range Living...Through Science!" is the theme of this year's CSU Extension Sustainable Expo taking place April 14, 2019 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Broomfield's 1stBank Center, 11450 Broomfield Ln. in Broomfield.

The expo, which costs $10 and is free for children 17 and under, features demonstrations, mini-workshops, and keynote presentations on "evidence-based approaches to a sustainable lifestyle in Front Range Colorado," according to a press release.

Plus, there will be food trucks.

Short demonstrations will cover the following:

  • Water conservation, setting up rain barrels, home energy production
  • Backyard chickens, the science of beekeeping, vegetable gardening, pollinator habitats
  • Lawn care and tree care, emerald ash borer, japanese beetle, nuisance insects in the home
  • Best practices for food preservation, beer making, and cheese making
  • Demonstrations on bike helmet safety, composting with worms, and much more!

Come for a few short talks or stay the whole day! A pop-up cottage food market will also be present.
