1. Generous Golden Citizens (goldentoday.com) — Golden residents once rallied in 1931 to create a local Welfare Fund that supported unemployed families with food, clothing, fuel, and street work. The program improved about twenty blocks of Golden streets and relied on donations from teachers, School of Mines employees, and local merchants before federal New Deal programs took over much of the relief role.
   

2. Meet & Mingle With Holiday Characters In Golden (milehighonthecheap.com) — Families in Golden can enjoy a free “Jingle on the Avenue” character mingle on Saturday, Dec. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. along Washington Avenue downtown. Kids can meet holiday characters, ride in Newfoundland dog carts and hay wagons, listen to live music, and snap plenty of photos at 1010 Washington Ave., all hosted by the City of Golden.
   

3. Deputies arrest Golden game store burglary suspects who stole more than $10,000 in items (9news.com) — Deputies arrested two suspects after a pre-dawn burglary at Atomic Games on Youngfield Street in Golden, recovering more than $10,000 in stolen gaming merchandise. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says the pair allegedly smashed the front door, grabbed bags of cards, dice, and figurines, tried to run, and were quickly caught, with damages estimated at $3,600.
   

4. Mines Women's Club Soccer Battled to Regional Berth; Parks Earns All-Conference Honors (minesathletics.com) — In Golden, the Colorado School of Mines Women’s Club Soccer team capped a gritty fall season by earning a Regional Tournament berth despite a losing record. Playing from Golden to Texas, the Orediggers notched revenge wins, a clutch qualifier over Colorado College, and a dramatic comeback draw, while standout Sam Parks grabbed All-Conference honors and seniors were celebrated for their leadership.
