Arapahoe County Government: Cherry Creek Kindergarteners Donate Jammies To Kids Served In Human Services

The entire class of five- and six-year-old students at Coyote Hills Elementary School in southeast Aurora helped meet a very important need in Human Services clients by donating more than 60 new pajamas to the department to give to families in need. The donation was made in partnership with the Pajama Program, a national program that advocates for families, specifically promoting healthy sleep for children to help them thrive. Through the partnership, Scholastic Book Club also gifted Human Services with 60 new children’s books.

“These kiddos understood that they were helping other kids their age,” said Kala Slater, volunteer and outreach supervisor for Child and Adult Protection Services. “They may be a bit young to fully know what this means to a family and a child receiving new pajamas and books, but their spirit really touched my heart. I’m thankful for the teachers and families who helped make this possible.”

Another school came forward with nearly two dozen pajamas through the Pajama Program this week. A 3rd grade class at the Aurora Public School, Lotus School of Excellence, joined in to bring much needed joy to those served in Human Services.

Human Services welcomes partnerships like this to help further strengthen the community support for those we serve and welcomes partnerships with schools, churches and various groups interested in supporting our families and individuals.
