Chartridge 3 Fire In Douglas County Stopped: SMFR
South Metro Fire said a fast-moving grass fire burning near Chatfield State Park has been 100% contained.
LITTLETON, CO — Firefighters have contained a fast-moving 10-acre grass fire near Chatfield Park in Douglas County, South Metro Fire Rescue said Tuesday.
At 10:48 a.m., SMFR tweeted that crews were responding to a large, fast-moving fire on the east side of U.S. 85 in Douglas County. SMFR said that 10 acres burned as of 11 a.m. and structures were threatened, although no injuries were reported. Highway 85 was closed in both directions near the fire near Chatfield State Park.
At 11:35, SMFR tweeted the forward progress of the fire was stopped, and firefighters were battling high winds (up to 30 miles an hour, according to the National Weather Service) and dry grass.

At 11:57, SMFR tweeted that the fire was 100% contained, and crews will clean up for the rest of the day. The exact acreage of the fire and its cause are under investigation.
Update: Forward progress of the fire has been stopped. A pre-evacuation order was issued for Chatfield Estates. Firefighters are working toward 100% containment, battling high winds and dry grasses.
