Beloved TV Anchor Announces She's Leaving Her CT Station

The popular anchor has been with the station for 12 years.

A little over a year after switching from early mornings to daytime hours, WFSB-TV's Nicole Nalepa announced on Tuesday that she's leaving the station at the end of the week.

Nalepa has been with Channel 3 for a dozen years, most of which was with the early morning team.

"While I can't properly sum up what 12 years there has meant to me, what I can say is that I am truly grateful," Nalepa said in a video on her Facebook page. "I'm grateful for all of you. I'm grateful for my experience there, and being at such an amazing place with such amazing people over the years. And more importantly, I'm excited for what the future holds."

Nalepa did not disclose what her "next adventure" will be, but she promised to keep her legion of fans informed.

"I will miss you so much!" wrote WFSB's Caitlin Nuclo, among the more than 800 comments the video had generated on Tuesday.

Another fan wrote, "What is going on at WFSB, all of the good people are leaving or being let go."

Over the past several months, the Rocky Hill-based station has seen several departures, such as Irene O'Connor, Melissa Cole, and Ayah Galal, among others.

Before joining Channel 3, Nalepa was an anchor and reporter at WWLP in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she worked overnights and mornings.

She has a Communications degree from Westfield State University, and interned at CBS News in New York on the "Evening News with Katie Couric."

"I've been watching you every day for your entire career at WFSB and loved every minute," another fan wrote. "I'm so sad to see you go."

While part of the WFSB team, Nalepa and her husband, Andrew, welcomed two children, son George and daughter Emeline.

She hosts a weekly podcast, "Mommyhood Unscripted," and volunteers at several nonprofits.

Nalepa said before she departs, she'll broadcast at The Big E on Wednesday, and her show, "Great Day at 9A" with Scot Haney, will have a little on-air celebration.

"So please join me, and thank you, thank you, thank you for everything," Nalepa said. "Be healthy, stay positive, and I'll be here posting any updates for what my next adventure will be. So as we say in the biz, stay tuned."
