We desperately need the rain, and there is some potentially good news in the weather forecast for us in Connecticut.

CONNECTICUT — With Connecticut now in the midst of a moderate drought, finally some rain has returned to the forecast.

It may not be a ton of rain, but Connecticut is forecast to see up to a half-inch of rain Sunday night and Monday morning in parts of the state, according to the National Weather Service. Another chance of rain is in the forecast Wednesday and Thursday too.

Before we get to the upcoming rain chances, the weekend weather forecast will feature cooler temperatures, with highs only in the low to mid 50s on Saturday and upper 50s on Sunday.

"Saturday, behind the front, we are anticipating abundant sunshine. As high pressure builds overhead, the wind becomes less intense. During the afternoon, temperatures peak in the mid-50s, closer to normal for this time of year," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Sunday, with dry air, a clear sky and a calm wind, starts out with temps near or below freezing. As a warm front approaches, we’ll see an increase in cloudiness as the day moves forward. Temps rebound to around 60 during the afternoon. We certainly need rain, and there’s a growing likelihood for scattered showers at night!"

"Any showers Sunday night could last into early Monday. In total, many communities could pick up around 0.1-0.2″ of rain. Thereafter, our Veterans Day features a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the low to mid-60s. Tuesday appears mostly sunny with highs in the lower 60s, Wednesday also looks dry with highs in the upper 50s. Thursday is a timeframe of interest, as some of our longer-range models are indicating the possibility of a more meaningful rainfall – stay tuned!" wrote WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.
