Snow Accumulation Estimates Released For CT: What You Need To Know
Here are the new details regarding snow that is expected for Connecticut this week, including a timeline and how much to expect.
CONNECTICUT — It looks like some light snow accumulation will be possible Wednesday night and early Thursday.
"By Wednesday, clouds start to build across Connecticut as an approaching clipper system dropping out of Canada moves into the northeast late in the day and into the overnight hours," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "This will bring us a renewed chance for showers and given the timing (late-Wednesday into early-Thursday), it looks like the main (precipitation type) would be snow inland and rain/snow mix along the shoreline!
"We’ve issued a *First Alert Weather Day* that bridges Wednesday/Thursday as we could see our first widespread, measurable snowfall in Connecticut," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "It is a bit too early for amounts but they look light, generally a coating in some valley locations, up to 2″ in the highest elevations of the NW/NE hills. There is still some uncertainty regarding the exact timing/amounts with this system...Either way, not a blockbuster storm. Commute impacts will be possible Thursday morning with any remaining rain/snow showers causing some possible slippery travel, especially on untreated surfaces." (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).

The National Weather Service said concerning southern Connecticut that this "system lacks significant moisture" and about a half inch of snow is expected, with the most accumulation in eastern parts of the region.
"Temperature profiles appear cold enough across the interior to allow snow for most if not the entirety of the event, which may lead to a light snow accumulation in some locales. At the coast, a mix of rain and snow, or simply plain rain, is most likely with surface temperatures in the upper 30s to near 40," according to the weather service.
