Major Storm Emerges For CT: Here's When And What To Expect
Forecasters say a major storm is expected to impact the weather for days in Connecticut. Here are the expected impacts and timeline.
CONNECTICUT — Enjoy the sun for the next couple of days, as we may not see it for a while. Beginning on Saturday, we'll see nothing but grey skies through at least Monday and there are several upcoming rain chances, including a "more substantial storm" on Monday, forecasters said.
"Two potent storms are expected to take aim at the northeastern United States at the start and conclusion of the upcoming weekend," Accuweather.com said in an updated forecast. "One storm could be more disruptive than the other in terms of adverse impacts on travel, outdoor plans and possible property damage along the Interstate 95 corridor, especially if a potential atmospheric river from the Caribbean Sea extends all the way to the Northeast, AccuWeather meteorologists warn."
AccuWeather meteorologists said they "believe the storm will become strong enough to bring a period of heavy rain, gusty winds and raw conditions from parts of the Southeast and Midwest Sunday to Sunday night and to much of the Northeast from Sunday night to Monday."

"There is a small chance the second storm strengthens quickly enough from Sunday to Monday to be dubbed a bomb cyclone, or undergo bombogenesis...," Accuweather.com wrote.
Accuweather.com predicts flooding is possible on Monday, and travel "could be a mess from Sunday night to Monday." Some locations in the Northeast may "pick up 3–4 inches of rain in several hours, which would certainly create flooding issues in low-lying and poor drainage area," according to Accuweather.com. The National Weather Service said there may be dry conditions for part of Sunday before the "intensifying low arrives late Sunday into Monday." Heavy rain and strong wind gusts are possible on Monday, the weather service said. Two or more inches of rain is possible.

WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said "a more substantial storm system will head our way but now moves in later. If this holds, the 2nd half of the weekend may be dry but mostly cloudy. Given the delay in the aforementioned storm system, a widespread soaking rain shifts to Monday as we kick off the month of May. Rain could be heavy at times, and temperatures will likely be held in the 50s. By Tuesday, we start to dry out and trend milder." (Watch the full WFSB 3 TV weather forecast here).
