Special Weather Statement Issued For CT; Big Weather Changes This Weekend
After a run of record high temperatures this week in Connecticut, some significant changes are forecast for the upcoming weekend.
CONNECTICUT — What a week of weather it has been thus far in Connecticut. We smashed record high temperatures for April, with Bradley Airport reaching 92 degrees on Thursday.
More records are expected to fall on Friday forecasters say, and then the weekend weather forecast takes a downward turn and mostly cloudy skies dominate, and we could see some rain on Saturday and Sunday. There is a chance for thunderstorms on Saturday and Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service.
A special weather statement has been issued by the National Weather Service for southern Connecticut, "Conditions remain quite dry with continued low relative humidity through today. Minimum relative humidity levels will be below 30 percent, and down around 20 percent in some locations. Thus, there remains the continued risk of fire growth and spread through today."

For Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties, the weather service said in a special weather statement that "Anomalously warm temperatures and dry conditions will continue today, especially across the interior where temperatures will warm into the upper 80s and low 90s... While winds will be less breezy than days past, persistent dry antecedent conditions and low relative humidity values are the driving factors for elevated fire weather concerns today."
A special weather statement has also been issued for Litchfield County due to "elevated fire weather concerns today."

Weather updates via WFSB 3 TV meteorologists
They noted the last time Connecticut saw a temperature reading in the 90s in April was back in 2012.
The high temperatures on Friday will be a bit warmer than Thursday as some northern locations will exceed 90 degrees once again, while it will be around 80 degrees at the immediate coast, WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said.
"After today, we trend unsettled and cooler – not the best timing given we are heading into the weekend," the WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said. "As a disturbance approaches from the southwest and passes offshore, we’ll see more clouds than sun with a rising chance for showers tomorrow afternoon. Highs will be in the 70s inland, 60s near the shoreline. Sunday isn’t much better, as some showers could linger into the morning; otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy and several degrees cooler."
