Timeline, New Snow Accumulation Estimates Released For CT

Here are new details on the timeline and latest estimates on how much snow to expect for an upcoming storm system.

CONNECTICUT — We're still on track to receive some snow late Wednesday and Thursday, according to the latest weather forecast updates.

The National Weather Service is estimating that parts of the state may see up to three inches of snow. (See below for more details on the weather service's snow estimates).

WFSB 3 TV meteorologists say that snow should begin around midnight for most of the state, but immediate coastal towns will see largely rain while inland sections will primarily see snow, especially along and northwest of I-84.

"We’ve issued a *First Alert Weather Day* for Thursday as the AM commute could be slick, with the potential for school delays," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said. "When it comes to accumulation, a coating to an inch is possible inland, with up to 2″ (perhaps more) in the highest elevations of NW/NE CT. We’re still a couple days out, so we’ll continue to fine tune our map … Either way, it’s not a blockbuster storm. Behind the front, the wind switches out of the northwest and could gust between 30 and 40 mph."

Behind the small storm system, much colder air arrives and high temperatures will be stuck in the low to mid 30s by the end of the week, but the wind chill factor will make it feel much colder. (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
