CT Weather: Rain Returns To Forecast, Storms Possible Too

Here is when we can expect rain and possibly thunderstorms in Connecticut, as dry weather has dominated for more than two weeks.

CONNECTICUT — We'll finally receive some rain again. After more than two weeks without any noticeable rain that is expected to change on Thursday.

Most areas will see a half inch or more of rain, and there is a chance for thunderstorms too.

"While today features a slight chance for isolated showers, many communities remain dry; otherwise expect an abundance of cloud cover with cooler than normal temperatures as they peak in the mid to upper 60s," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "That storm system arrives tomorrow, bringing much needed rain to the state. We expect off and on showers throughout the day.... then, toward and after sunset, as a cold front moves through the region downpours and even some rumbles of thunder are possible (as of now, we are not anticipating severe weather)."

"The rain will be beneficial given we’re on day 17 without any measurable precipitation for the Hartford Area. Deficits for September, compared to normal, are now over 3″ to date… if the month were to end yesterday, it would be the 2nd driest September on record (they date back to 1905)!" said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

"Potential totals for tomorrow continue to fluctuate, though it appears a quarter to half inch is likely in most places. However, locally lower and higher amounts will be possible too....As high pressure builds in Friday, morning clouds give way to increasing sunshine. We’ll end the week on a comfortable note with temps peaking in the mid-70s," added WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.

Weekend forecast details

"Outdoor plans over the first full weekend of autumn? The weather cooperates as high pressure dominates, keeping us dry. That being said, Saturday could feature filtered sunshine from high level cloudiness associated with the remnants of Helene that will be centered over the Mid-West. Sunday then looks brighter. We’re forecasting overnight lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s with highs in the mid-70s both days (Sunday is likely a tad milder, compared to Saturday)," said WFSB 3 TV forecasters.
