CONNECTICUT — It looks like we're going to be dealing with a cold rain on Thanksgiving, and some folks in the far northern parts of the state may even see some snow too.

After a long period of warm weather and dry conditions, that will change this week as we'll be dealing with some more rain on Tuesday and a better chance for a more substantial rain on Thanksgiving Day.

We'll also see much cooler temperatures as the holiday week progresses.

"Cloud cover increases tonight in advance of rain for tomorrow morning," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said. "Showers during the morning commute transition to briefly moderate rain. Some rain could be heavy at times with total rainfall amounts between 0.25″- 0.50″...Clearing is expected in the mid to late afternoon hours."

"...Thanksgiving is our next timeframe of interest," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said. "It will likely feature seasonably cool temps (in the mid 40s) with rain breaking out in the morning hours and possible snow across the hills. It’s too early to know how long the snow might continue across the hills, but most places will experience a cold rain. Rainfall amounts could exceed 1″. We have issued a *First Alert Weather Day* given the holiday and potential major impacts this could have on travel. As of now, the greatest chance for accumulating snow looks to set up across Northern New England on Thanksgiving and for a cold rain to set up mainly across Southern New England."

"...This time period begins with a noticeable cool down, and likely some of the coldest air of the season. Saturday (the last day of November) is blustery with highs in the mid and upper 30s. There will likely be a wind chill, keeping our ‘feels like’ temps in the 20s for most of the day. Overnight lows will fall into the 20s statewide. On Sunday, the first day of December, highs are just as cold as Saturday, in the 30s, and a breeze will make it feel much colder," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said. (Read/watch more at WFSB 3 TV).
