Bethel Police Seek Help Identifying Suspected Copper Thief

The Bethel Police Department is seeking help identifying a man who is a suspect in the theft of copper.

Bethel, CT — The Bethel Police Department is seeking help identifying the man and/or the vehicle pictured. One picture shows the male walking and shows distinct tattoos on his rear calves. Police say he is a suspect in a high dollar theft of copper.

According to a report by CNBC, copper theft is an epidemic due to a sluggish economy and the rise in the price of commodity prices.

"Stolen copper is valuable as scrap because the metal is used for so many items—from fiber optics to plumbing to anything electrical—and the profits are tempting," the report stated.
