World War II Veteran Steven Sanderson, 97, Passed Away

Mr. Sanderson worked as a security guard at Macy's, Boehringer Ingelheim and Cartus.

Bethel, CT — Steven Sanderson died July 9th, 2016. He was 97 years old.

Steve was born in the Bronx and grew up in Brooklyn. He lived in White Plains while raising his family and then moved to Bethel to be near his daughter and her family. Steve was a World War II veteran, serving in Japan and the Philippines. He was the owner of Sanderson Wines and Liquors in the Bronx.

After retirement he worked for Macy's and as a security guard at Boehringer Ingelheim and Cartus. Steve is survived by his daughter, Jane Smietana (John) of Bethel and his son William Sanderson of Hawthorne, NY. The light of his life were his grandchildren, Katie Smietana Beaudry (Ryan), Andy Smietana, Rachael Sanderson Benz (Rob) and Melissa Sanderson Kelly (Mike) and his great grandchildren Gianna Benz, Nicholas Benz, Ava Kelly, Lilah Kelly and Aubree Beaudry.
