Brookfield Appeal of Registrar Case Dismissed: Report

The town now has the option to appeal the case to the state Supreme Court.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Another court tasked with hearing the town's appeal against a lower court decision ordering it to pay a former Registrar of Voters' legal fees has dismissed the case, reports the News Times. The appellate court voted to dismiss the appeal and ruled that the town should reimburse former Republican Registrar of Voters Thomas Dunkerton.

Dunkerton incurred the fees for his defense in a lawsuit against resident Jane Miller. In March, a judge ruled Dunkerton was acting in his capacity as a town employee, and making the town obligated to pay his legal fees.

First Selectman Steve Dunn said he will recommend the Board of Selectmen vote to appeal the case to the state Supreme Court.
