BROOKFIELD, CT — You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are some important dates for the 2016-2017 school year.

  • First day of school: Wednesday, Aug. 31
  • Labor Day (school closed): Monday, Sept. 5
  • Professional Development (school closed): Friday, Sept. 30
  • Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Monday, Oct. 3
  • Columbus Day (school closed): Monday, Oct. 10
  • Yom Kippur (school closed): Wednesday, Oct. 12
  • Professional Development (school closed): Nov. 7 & 8
  • Early Dismissal: Nov. 23
  • Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 24-25
  • Professional Learning (early dismissal): Friday, Dec. 9
  • Holiday Break (early dismissal): Friday, Dec. 23
  • Winter Break: Dec. 26-Jan. 2 (school resumes Jan. 3)
