Brookfield Softball Coach Dixie L. Loumbardt Passed Away

Dixie coached girls' softball in Brookfield in the 1970s and was a foster mother and active in the Salvation Army in Danbury.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Dixie L. Loumbardt, 81, of Danbury, CT passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital.Born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Walter and Rose (Tawyea) Wellington, she attended elementary school in Danbury. Dixie was a 1953 graduate of Old Saybrook High School.

A former 14 year employee with Davis & Geck, she retired from Branson Ultrasonic Corp. in 2000. Dixie worked at the Information Center at the Danbury Fair Mall from 2005-2015. An avid New York Mets fan, Dixie also coached girls' softball in Brookfield in the 1970s. She was also a foster mother and active in the Salvation Army in Danbury.

Survivors include her son: David L. Abdella of Danbury.Funeral Services was conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Interment followed in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dixie's memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 15 Foster St., Danbury, CT 06810
