Brookfield Special Town Meeting On FY 2025-25 Capital Expenses Set For April 1

The legal voters of the Town of Brookfield, and those entitled to vote therein, are hereby warned and notified to meet in the Brookfield High School Auditorium, 45 Long Meadow Hill Road, Brookfield, Connecticut, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 7:00 P.M., for the following purposes, to wit:

1. To discuss and consider a resolution (a) authorizing an appropriation of $3,302,252 to fund the costs of the Town’s capital expenses for the fiscal year 2025-2026, including costs of the following acquisitions, installations and replacements of and improvements to Town-owned facilities:
(collectively, referred to herein as the “2025-26 Capital Projects”), and authorizing the Town to issue general obligation bonds or notes and temporary notes or enter into one or more equipment leases, as applicable, in an aggregate amount not to exceed $2,881,675 to finance said appropriation, (b) authorizing the transfer of surplus amounts in the amount of $420,577 from fiscal year ending June 30, 2025 to the capital and nonrecurring fund to be used to finance the 2025-26 Capital Projects, (c) authorizing the First Selectman and the Treasurer to determine the amount, date, interest rates (taxable or tax-exempt), maturities (subject to the limits set forth in the General Statutes), form and other details of the bonds, notes or leases, as applicable; to sell the bonds, notes or leases at public or private sale; to deliver the bonds, notes or leases; and to perform all other acts which are necessary or appropriate to issue the bonds, notes or leases, and to reduce the scope of the 2025-26 Capital Projects and spend the entire amount of the appropriation on such 2025-26 Capital Projects as so reduced in scope if such 2025-26 Capital Projects cannot be completed for the amount appropriated; and (d) authorizing the First Selectman, the Treasurer and other proper officers of the Town to apply for and accept federal and State grants to defray said appropriation and enter into any grant agreements for the accomplishment of the 2025-26 Capital Projects and to take all other action which is necessary or desirable to complete the 2025-26 Capital Projects.

2. To discuss and act upon a resolution setting Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from the hours of 6:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m., as the date and polling hours for the referendum vote on the resolution contained in the call of the meeting.
Copies of said resolution is on file and available for public inspection at the Office of the Brookfield Town Clerk.
