Brookfield Yard Refuse Center Sets 2025 Seasonal Schedule

Brookfield's Yard Refuse Center opens April 12 for residents. Permits required. Grass clippings not accepted.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Residential Yard Refuse Center will open for the 2025 season on Saturday, April 12, and operate through Dec. 6, the town announced this week.

The center will be open to Brookfield residents only, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. It will be closed on April 19, July 5, and Nov. 29. The facility is for residential use only, and contractors are not permitted.

Permits are required to access the center, but there is no fee. Residents may obtain permits at the Public Works office at Town Hall, 100 Pocono Road, during regular business hours: Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Permits will also be available at the yard refuse center on operating Saturdays.

The center accepts twigs, small branches up to three inches in diameter, brush and leaves. Grass clippings are not permitted. Leaves must be deposited in a designated 100-by-50-foot area, while other yard debris should be placed in a separate 100-by-80-foot zone.

Free wood chips are available at the site, but residents are responsible for loading them into their vehicles.

The facility will also be open for Christmas tree drop-off on Jan. 3 and Jan. 10, 2026.
