'Brookstock VI' Music Festival Takes Place on Saturday to Benefit Brookfield Fire Companies

The free concert is being held on Saturday, July 16 to benefit Brookfield's two fire companies.

Brookfield, CT — Brookstock VI takes place Saturday, July 16 from 3 - 8 p.m. at the Brookfield Band Shell, 100 Pocono Road, Brookfield.

Planned by Brookfield resident Mark Lyon and other residents, the charitable event includes local bands including graduates of Brookfield High School.

These festivals have continued to grow in popularity since 2010 when they started, according to Lyon who said, "Over the years, we have raised money to help purchase a handicap-accessible van for a classmate’s son who suffered a spinal cord injury, made sizable donations to the Danbury Animal Welfare Society and the American Cancer Society, and supported the efforts of two veterans groups – Building Homes for Heroes, and Hope for Heroes."

This year, the Class of 1978 will support the efforts of Brookfield’s two volunteer fire companies. All funds raised will be split between the two firehouses to be used for the purchase of equipment, firefighter training and other needs. The fire companies will have trucks and other apparatus on site for the music festival, and will be “passing the boot” for donations.
