Dorothy (Deeley) Gill, 86, of Brookfield, Died Peacefully
The Brookfield woman was a founding member of the Newbury Congregational Church and served as a Deacon.
BROOKFIELD, CT — Dorothy (Deeley) Gill, 86, of Brookfield, loving wife of Walter R. Gill, died peacefully on Saturday, August 13th, at Bethel Healthcare, surrounded by her family. She was born in London, Ontario on October 9, 1929, daughter of the late Harold S. and Mabel Jean (Henderson) Deeley.
She grew up in Asbestos, Quebec, Canada, and went on to graduate from McGill University in Montreal and Duke University. Following her education, she worked as a physical therapist in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Dorothy made her home in the area in 1954.
She was a founding member of the Newbury Congregational Church and served as a deacon. She worked as a physical therapist for the Danbury Hospital, and Danbury Pavilion. Most recently, at the age of 74, Dorothy retired from New Milford Nursing Home.

In her younger years she enjoyed ice skating and skiing. She was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed gardening, bowling, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her Papillon Buddha.
In addition to her beloved husband of 59 years, Walter, she will be sadly missed by her two sons, David Gill and his wife, Susan, and Robert Gill, all of Danbury; her sister, Margaret Shea and her husband David, of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held at the Newbury Congregational Church, Brookfield, on Thursday, August 18. Burial followed in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
