Erratic Driving Leads to DUI Charge

At 6:24 p.m. on Oct. 24, Brookfield police received a report of an operator who was possibly under the influence.

Officers located Debra Rubitschun, 58, of Marc Road, Danbury, traveling westbound on Silvermine Road, where she was allegedly seen failing to stop for a stop sign.

Rubitschun then swerved over the centerline on Silvermine before turning right onto Federal Road, where she was stopped by police.

She failed field sobriety tests and was charged with failure to obey a stop sign, failure to drive in the proper lane and operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Rubitschun was released on $500 bond with a court date scheduled for Nov. 7.
