Reminder: Brookfield Town Meeting Planned to Vote on $500K Streetscape Grant Appropriation
The funds will be used for streetscape, signage, sidewalks and lighting improvements in the Four Corners area in Brookfield.
Brookfield, CT — Voters of the Town of Brookfield are invited to meet at Room 133 of the Brookfield Town Hall, 100 Pocono Road, Brookfield, on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 7 p.m. for a special town meeting.
This special meeting is to vote on whether or not the town should appropriate $500,000 to fund the town's streetscape project from the 2016 DECD STEAP grant.

The $500,000 grant will provide funding for sidewalks, parking and bike lane construction.

Of the fourteen towns state-wide receiving Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grants from the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management (OPM), Brookfield is one of the few to receive the maximum amount of $500,000. The project will benefit the community through funding streetscape improvements that will make the revitalizing Brookfield Village accessible and sustainable for all residents.
“This is incredible news for Brookfield,” said Rep. Harding. “I look forward to seeing this project finally materialize and bring new business and cultural opportunities to our town. I thank the OPM for providing Brookfield with much-needed support to complete the vital transportation aspect of our plan.”
