Report: Tinsley Declared Bankrupt in October

Report states that the First Selectman-elect owes almost $775,000.

Brookfield’s First Selectman-elect, Bill Tinsley, filed for bankruptcy in October, in the midst of his campaign for the top seat in town, the News-Times reported this weekend.

The report comes two weeks after Tinsley won a narrow victory over Democratic challenger Howard Lasser and adds to news that Tinsley is facing felony embezzlement charges in Vermont.

According to the News-Times, Tinsley filed for bankruptcy in June for debts totaling almost $775,000. He was officially declared bankrupt by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in October.

The report also notes that Tinsley’s Brookfield home fell into foreclosure in 2012.
