Smolnik Resigns as Brookfield Democratic Committee Chairman

Town Committee chairman resigned this week citing responsibilities at work.

Less than a year after being appointed chairman of the Brookfield Democratic Town Committee (DTC), Dan Smolnik stepped down from the position earlier this week, citing work obligations.

“The demands of his growing law practice require an increasing amount of his attention,” DTC Vice-Chairman and acting Chair Ron Jaffe said Thursday. “We want to thank Dan for the tireless and excellent work he did for the DTC while chair. His input, voice and involvement were valuable and will be missed.”

Smolnik declined to comment.

The DTC has a regular meeting scheduled for Thursday evening, where they will discuss Smolnik’s resignation, among other things.

Jaffe said the committee will likely appoint new leadership at their annual meeting in January.
