WPCA To Auction Two Homes For Delinquent Bills

Two Brookfield condos will be sold at auction to recoup overdue sewer bills and assessments.

The Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA), the agency that manages Brookfield’s waste water systems, will be auctioning off two Heatherwood Drive condominiums to cover delinquent sewer payments and usage fees.

The property at 146 Heatherwood Drive will go to auction at 3 p.m. in room 135 of Town Hall on July 11 to recoup $1,710.75 in unpaid sewer use charges and $14,924.54 in unpaid benefit assessments, according to WPCA collection records, totaling $16,635.29.

At 3:45 p.m., the auction will start for 88 Heatherwood Drive, another condo with delinquent assessment charges totaling $14,857.81.

The WPCA will make initial bids on the properties in the amount of the liens and the auctions will proceed in increments of $100. Bidders must have $5,000 on hand for a deposit, in cash, certified or bank check.

Three other properties — 127 Heatherwood Drive, 7 Locust Lane and 63 Vale Road — were also scheduled to sell at auction, however the property owners paid down the delinquent charges in time to stop the sales.

If the other two properties sell at auction, their current owners will have the “right of redemption” for six months, allowing them to buy back the land for the price paid at auction (plus costs and interest at 18 percent). The winning bidders will not be able to take full possession of the property until after the six-month grace period.
