State Rep. LeGeyt Met With Advocates During Family Action Day
Families of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities gathered to advocate for the restoration of funding cuts.

State Rep. Tim LeGeyt (R-17) met with advocates during Family Action Day sponsored by The Arc Connecticut at the State Capitol.
During the event, activists, individuals and families of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities gathered to advocate for individuals and families with disabilities across the state for the purpose of restoring and to fight to restore the proposed funding cuts to the budget for the Department of Developmental Services.
Rep. LeGeyt, a member of the legislature’s I/DD Caucus, met with constituent and self-advocate Lauren Traceski and her parents, Janet and Fran, following the event. Traceski, who was a guest speaker during the program, spoke with Rep. LeGeyt about the importance of the day program she participates in through the Arc of Farmington Valley (FAVARH) located in Canton. Traceski serves on FAVARH's board as a Client Representative, advocating on behalf of the clients served by the agency.
“The advocacy work done by Lauren and others to promote the interests of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is remarkable and effective. So much good comes from these efforts, not just to benefit the situations of people with disabilities, but also to improve and expand the perspective of all concerned,” said Rep. LeGeyt.
