The Board of Selectmen will hold two public hearings on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 7:00pm in Room F at the Canton Community Center, 40 Dyer Avenue, Canton, Connecticut. The meetings will be a hybrid format in that people will be able to view and participate in the public hearings remotely or in-person at the Canton Community Center. Social distancing will be required so seating may be limited.

The purpose of the public hearings will be to take comments on the following:

1) Whether the Town of Canton should adopt an ordinance entitled Retention of Excess Payments which will authorize The Tax Collector for the Town of Canton to retain any tax payment or service charge in excess of the amount due provided the amount of the excess payment is less than five dollars ($5.00). The proposed ordinance can be viewed on Town’s web site at www.townofcantonct.org.

2) Whether the Town of Canton should amend an ordinance entitled Water Pollution Control Authority which will reduce the members of the authority from nine to seven. The proposed amendment can be viewed on Town’s web site at www.townofcantonct.org.
