Dream Big! Winner 5th Grader from Cheshire

Connecticut State Treasurer Denise L. Nappier recently announced that Kaylie Behuniak, a fifth grader at Highland Elementary School, has been selected as a merit winner in a statewide contest.

Kaylie was one of hundreds of students who entered the third annual CHET Dream Big! Competition which asked kids to write an essay on how they will change the world after college.

Kaylie's parents won a $50 contribution to a CHET 529 college savings account to help them get started saving for her future college education.

“I am so impressed by all the amazing entries we received this year," said Nappier. "This year we received entries from more than 50 percent of the towns in Connecticut, up from 30 percent in 2010. This means more and more Connecticut families are learning that the CHET direct-sold plan can help them reach their future higher education goals.”

The contest challenged students to imagine what they could accomplish with a college education, while motivating families to think about saving for college to support their children's dreams.
