Robert E. LaBrecque, 66

Robert E. LaBrecque, 66, of Mattapoisett, Mass., died July 28 at home. He was the husband of Paula P. (Paukstis) LaBrecque and the son of the late Frederick and Alice (Douglas) LaBrecque.

He was born in Shoemaker, CA and lived in Waterbury before moving to Mattapoisett.

Mr. LaBrecque graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury in 1962, Boston College in 1966 and Indiana University in 1968 where he received his master's degree.

Mr. LaBrecque owned and operated Ryan & Scully in New Bedford which he purchased from his uncle in 1980. Previously he worked as an Internal Auditor for Arthur Andersen, Insilco International Silver Company and National Homes.

He was a member of the Mattapoisett Tennis Association, a member and past president of the Sierra Club in CT. He was a coach for the Girls CYO Basketball team at St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven. He enjoyed playing tennis and racquetball.

Survivors include his widow; his children, Frederick LaBrecque and his fiancé, Takamoto of Las Vegas, Andrew LaBrecque of New Bedford, Robert E. LaBrecque, Jr., of New Bedford, Alyssa Crosby and her husband, Michael of Weare, NH and Jillian Oliveira and her husband, Thomas of Fairhaven; 3 grandchildren, Andrew and Logan Oliveira and Michael Crosby, III; his brothers and sisters, Rev. Frederick LaBrecque of Conway, SC, Dr. Douglas LaBrecque of Iowa City, IA, Ann Baird of Beverly, WV, Janice Baker of Bluebell, PA, Mark LaBrecque of Arden, NC, Laurance Wilber of Northboro, Claire Pelletier of Waterbury, CT and James LaBrecque of Cheshire, CT; several nephews and nieces.

His funeral service will be private.
