The United Auto Workers were expected Monday morning to announce their endorsement of Chris Murphy for Senate in 2012 making it the first statewide organized labor union to endorse a candidate in the race. "Ultimately this Senate race will be about fighting for, and protecting, the regular, every day working person as they strive to make a better life for their families," Murphy said in a statement. "I can think of no better partner in this effort than my friends at UAW. It's an honor to have them as such an early part of our grassroots campaign." "Chris is the kind of person we need in the U.S. Senate. He has fought tirelessly for our members and their rights where they work and live," said Julie Kushner, Director of UAW Region 9A.
