Blackie's Hot Dog Stand Burglarized
Cheshire Police report a nighttime burglary at the popular hot dog stand on Waterbury Road.

Petty cash was taken from Blackie's Hot Dog Stand sometime on Wednesday night, according to the owner. "It was late, a rainy night," said Susan Flavin.
"It's a nuisance, they broke a window. Where we sit, it's isolated, right on the Waterbury line," Flavin said.
Cheshire Police Lt. James Fasano said detectives are working on the case but there are no suspects yet. He said a cash box was stolen sometime between 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night and 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

Fasano said the window that was broken is on west side of the building, away from the street and near trees. The roadside stand has been a staple in Cheshire since 1928.
"There was minimal change (in the cash box). We get broken into every four or five years. It's frustrating because it takes time and effort," Flavin said.

No one was in the building when the burglary occurred, Fasano said.
