<p><strong>A Mind–Body–Spirit Wellness Workshop</strong><br>This workshop is designed as a <strong>gentle, restorative wellness experience</strong> that supports emotional balance, stress reduction, and intentional living. Grounded in mindfulness, creativity, and the regulating presence of horses, the experience invites participants to reconnect with themselves in a way that feels&nbsp;<strong>nourishing rather than demanding</strong>. Horses, as highly attuned and responsive beings, naturally support this process. Their calm, rhythmic presence helps regulate the nervous system, quiet mental overload, and create space for clarity and renewal.<br></p>
<h2>Wellness Intent of the Workshop</h2>
<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Year of the Horse Vision Board Workshop</strong> supports whole-person wellness by focusing on:<br></p>

<p>Participants begin with a brief grounding practice to settle the body and mind, release external stressors, and orient to the present moment.<br></p>
<h3>🐎 Mindful Equine Observation</h3>
<p>Guided observation encourages participants to notice: Breath, posture, and internal sensations; Emotional responses evoked by the horses and Metaphors related to balance, pacing, strength, and rest. This phase supports&nbsp;<strong>somatic awareness</strong>, a core component of emotional wellness.<br></p>
<h3>🎨 Creative Vision Board Practice</h3>
<p>Participants create vision boards focused on: Wellness intentions (e.g., calm, resilience, joy, vitality); Emotional states they wish to cultivate; Supportive habits, boundaries, and rhythms; and Personal strengths reflected by the horse.<br><strong><em>&nbsp;Reflection &amp; Integration: Facilitated</em></strong> reflection helps participants gently integrate awareness into meaningful intention—supporting insight, self-compassion, and clarity.<br></p>
<h3>This workshop offers a <strong>pause in the pace of everyday life</strong>—an opportunity to breathe, reflect, and set intentions guided by the quiet wisdom of horses. <p>Neonicotinoids have caught the attention of the public, but they are part of the larger issues with pesticides. For many decades, we have been on the "pesticide treadmill," with each new pesticide promoted as better and safer, until we identify the risks to human health and the environment, and then, ultimately, the target pests become resistant.&nbsp; Dr. Kimberly Stoner explains why information about pesticide use in our state should be available to the public, so that researchers, policy makers, and concerned citizens can make informed decisions to protect human health and the environment.&nbsp;</p>
<p>This program is important for anyone who has a flower garden, a vegetable&nbsp;garden, and for those who buy flowers or food.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dr. Stoner is the CT NOFA Director of Advocacy, and adjunct professor at Western CT State University, teaching a course on Public Policy for Biodiversity. She is also a member of the Pollinator Advisory Committee at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station. The group promotes and protects pollinator health and biodiversity in Connecticut by advising on policies and practices that support pollinator populations, facilitate research and education related to pollinator conservation, and collaborates with stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, and conservationists.</p>
