Cheshire School Administrators Get Four-Year Contract

The Cheshire Board of Education last week approved a collective bargaining agreement with the school Administrators Union personnel representing principals and other certified administrators that includes raises over the next four years.

The contract calls for 2 percent raises for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years, and 2.25 percent raises for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years, for a total of an 8.5 percent increase over four years.

"As far back as I can remember, we have had a very reasonable and a very positive discussion, interaction and negotiations which has resulted in what I think is a very fair and reasonable contract," said Supt. of Schools Greg Florio.

The raises are reasonable, he said.

"That is well within line with most settlements and is actually a bit lower than most settlements with town employee groups," he said, and is less than the overall cost settlement with the teachers union by four-tenths to half a percent, he said.

"It was a very collegial negotiations and talks handled quite well," said Board of Education chairman Gerry Brittingham. "I want to thank the administrator's union for that attitude and what I consider an extremely reasonable contract and its a very nice atmosphere in which to do business."
