Children Answer Artsplace Challenge with Creativity

The "Aces High Metalworks III" contest allowed grade school students to challenge their creativity by making sculptures using only the items contained in a kit along with a bit of paint and glue.

About two dozen children took the challenge this year for the “Aces High Metalworks III” contest.

Sponsored for the third year by the Cheshire Performing and Fine Arts Committee, the challenge was build a sculpture using as many pieces as the young artist could from the boxed kit, with additions of glue and paint only.

On Saturday a dozen entries were brought to the Cheshire Public Library where they will be on display in the children's room until the end of April. A second set of entries will arrive on Monday evening, said Artsplace Director Joan Pilarczyk.

The winners will be posted on Cheshire Patch next weekend!
