Founder of Dalton Enterprises Dies in Florida

Peter F. Dalton, 68, died last week after a long illness.

A spokesperson for Dalton Enterprises Inc. reported today that founder and co-owner Peter F. Dalton died late last week in Florida.

The business he founded, Dalton Enterprises Inc., manufactures the nationally distributed driveway sealer known as Latex-ite. The factory on Willow Street in Cheshire opened in 1945. The company also owns the historic Ball & Socket factory on West Main Street, which is for sale.

Dalton served in the United States Army as a platoon leader for the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, A Troop, 1st Squadron during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1968. Dalton was the recipient of the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars, one with Valor and the Vietnamese Silver Star.

He leaves his wife, Maureen E. Dalton, his son John A. Dalton and two daughters, Courtney Dalton Stephens and Hadley Dalton Walsh along with their spouses, his two sisters and dozens of other family members.

His wake will be held on Thurs., June 2nd from 3 to 7 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison. His funeral will take place Fri., June 3rd at 10:30am at St. Margaret Church, 24 Academy St., Madison.
