Historic Preservation Supported by Survey
Take Ten Minutes to Save History; The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation Seeks Input.

Maintaining a historic home is a costly and unending task. Preservationists may know that tax credits or grants don't exist to support the maintenance or upgrade of a single-family historic house.
Funding support, however, may become available through the efforts of The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, according to Jeanné Chesanow, chairwoman of the Cheshire Historic District Commission.
"The (trust) awards funds in several categories. When they ask for information, they do not intend to file it away somewhere," Chesanow wrote.

Information gathered from the preservation survey could help property owners find financial support for the upkeep of their homes, Chesanow said in an email.
"I suggest that people take 10 minutes to fill out the survey because it could result in money coming their way," Chesanow continued.

"The Connecticut Trust is seeking to better understand the financial needs of organizations," according to the survey statement. Funding may be available for "individuals that undertake or are involved in historic preservation work," reads the statement.
"This survey will help the Connecticut Trust understand what your needs are, and how it may better serve you and foster your historic preservation efforts throughout the state," the statement concludes.
All results are confidential. Click here for the link to the survey which will be available until July 29.
