Kites Fly "Up to the Highest Heights" (Video)

The annual "Fly a Kite" event was a soaring success this week.

It couldn't have been a better day for kite flying on Monday with gusts of wind helping kids, and kids at heart, get their kites off the ground for the annual "Fly a Kite" event on Monday.

The Parks and Recreation Department sponsored the event as part of their April school break programming. Program Coordinator Elizabeth Mayne said nearly 20 children came to launch kites at Bartlem Park with their family and friends.

A sign-in sheet showed most of the kite flyers were four -to nine- years old. Everyone who participated received a ticket for raffle prizes, Mayne said.
