Lahey of Cheshire Named Irish American of Year

Quinnipiac University President John L. Lahey has been named "Irish American of the Year" by Irish America Magazine.

Quinnipiac University President John Lahey's ancestors come from County Kerry, Ireland where his grandfather was a bricklayer.

For more than two decades, the Cheshire resident has headed up the private university in Hamden and stayed close to his Irish roots. He's vice chairman of  the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, an event he attended since he was a young boy growing up in the Bronx.
