MidState Offers Free Credit Monitoring After Security Breach
MidState Medical Center will provide two years of free identity protection after a computer hard drive full of personal health information was lost when it was taken home by an employee.

Letters went out to nearly 100,000 patients of MidState Medical Center on Saturday offering two years of free credit protection from Debix Identity Protection of Suwanee, Georgia.
"... We are in the process of reviewing (MidState's) policies and are taking steps to help ensure that this type of incident does not happen in the future," the MidState letter reads. The and its regional offices are affiliated with Hartford Hospital through the Hartford HealthCare Partnership.
The patient letter notes that MidState "sees no reason to believe that any personal information has been misused" as a result of security breach. The concern about lost records arose after MidState told state officials that an employee of the medical center in February took home a computer hard drive that contained names, address and Social Security numbers. The drive was then lost, according to state Attorney General George Jepsen.
