Nearly 90 Teams Will Circle Track at Relay For Life
The 15th Annual Cheshire Relay for Life begins Friday for two days of fundraising and cancer awareness at the Cheshire High School track.
From midnight volleyball to a big screen video tribute, from candle-lit luminaries to early morning exercise, the Cheshire Relay for Life represents one of the town's most significant events.
The annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society begins at 5 p.m. Friday and runs through the night until noon on Saturday. Tents decorated by dozens of teams line the inside of the track while team members of all ages take to the track to help raise funds for a cure.
Team captains report that nearly $175,000 has been raised so far this year. Last year's relay raised nearly $316,000, making Cheshire's relay one of the top five in New England.
